Multi-Lite Ceiling Lamps

Louis Weisdorf (1932–2021) was a well-known Danish architect and industrial designer. He graduated in 1954 from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, becoming one of the youngest designers of his time. After that, he worked in graphic design, interior design, architecture, and industrial design.

The 1930s to 1960s were the first golden age of Danish design. Humanistic functionalism emerged in the 1930s and reached its peak in the 1950s and 60s, putting "Danish style" on the global stage.

Carrying on the legacy of this golden era, in 1972, Danish designer Louis Weisdorf created the prototype for the Multi-Lite series. He had a deep interest in lighting and designed his lamps with the goal of preventing light from hurting the eyes, no matter the angle.

The Multi-Lite series reflects Louis's love for versatility. The design starts with two cylindrical shapes as the base, surrounded by a metal ring that anchors two quarter-sphere shades. By rotating the shades, the lamp can be transformed into different combinations, directing light upward, downward, or creating an artistic, asymmetrical glow. This results in a unique, multi-functional design.
