   The PH 3/2 desk lamp, designed in 1928, is one of the famous three-shade systems developed from Henningsen's early work in 1926. Poul Henningsen dedicated much of his life to creating lighting solutions that optimize the use of light sources. His three-shade system is based on the logarithmic spiral, designed to maximize light efficiency while minimizing glare.

   The shape of the lampshade is determined by its need to reflect and diffuse light effectively, resulting in a design that is both visually pleasing and functional. The first PH table lamp was completed in early 1927 and was introduced as a replacement for the "low FM lamp."

   The opal glass shades of the lamp soften its overall form and are meticulously designed to produce a perfect, glare-free light. Each shade is crafted from hand-blown opal glass, with a sandblasted inner surface that ensures soft, even light distribution.
