Poul Henningsen (9 September 1894 – 31 January 1967) was a Danish author, critic, architect, and designer. In Denmark, where he often is referred to simply as PH, he was one of the leading figures of the cultural life of Denmark between the World War. These are some of the most popular design created by him.
In 1957 the architect Charles Gjerrild ask Paul Henningsen to design an economical yet decorative light for his Adventist Church at Skodsborg Hydro. The resulting design, the PH Louvre was the cheaper to manufacture than PH Spiral light. It is because its simpler construction, which comprised of thirteen concentric metal shades seton a simple four-ribbed frame.
